Dishcloth in the microwave
Dishcloths are easy to use and also more environmentally friendly than disposable wipes. That’s why we certainly don’t want to get rid of them. But of course we want a hygienic dishcloth. Fortunately, there is an easy solution: just put the dishcloth in the microwave! It may sound strange, but it really works. Researchers discovered that 99% of the bacteria in the dishcloth disappeared afterwards. In the microwave, bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella are easily and quickly erased. Researchers recommend doing this every other day. We will tell you exactly how it works!
How it works
First, pour some boiling water over the dishcloth. The heat will kill the fist bacteria and the cloth will smell a lot fresher. Rinse the dishcloth with some cold water. Then put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. When you put a wet dishcloth in the microwave, a lot of steam is released. Because of this you can sometimes no longer see through the window, which is normal. After 2 minutes the dishcloth will be hot, so be careful. You can now safely reuse the dishcloth! It is now wonderfully fresh and free of bacteria. Extra tip: also use this as an opportunity to clean your microwave. Because of the water vapor, you’ll see that the filth will be super easy to wipe away, and yes, this even goes for the encrusted food. Make sure you only put wet dishcloths in the microwave! Dry dishcloths can catch fire.
